The paintings included explore and hopefully question the shifts that are occurring in the natural world, when the elements are manipulated into new forms by experiments conducted in a lab. They pose questions about the interlaced effects that are set off unknowingly when the “enhanced” elements are introduced into a formerly balanced environment. The paintings foreground the use of the multiple, but with each component made by hand, embedded in oil and resin strata. I invited Brenda Mallory to share her work along with mine, as I sensed we were exploring similar territory, but in different forms.
